Tokina exhibits 70-200mm F4 FX and 12-28mm F4 DX lenses at CP+

Tokina exhibits 70-200mm F4 FX and 12-28mm F4 DX lenses at CP+ | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

Tokina has announced it will be exhibiting two soon-to-be-released lenses at the CP+ trade show in Japan. The AT-X 70-200 F4 PRO FX VCM-S is a telephoto zoom that's designed for use on both full frame and APS-C SLRs, and features both optical image stabilisation and a ring-type ultrasonic autofocus motor with full-time manual override. Meanwhile the AT-X 12-28 F4 PRO DX is a replacement for the company's existing 12-24mm F4 wideangle zoom for APS-C cameras. But rather than making the lens wider to match its competitors, Tokina has chosen to extend it further into the 'normal' range, to give an 18-42mm equivalent zoom.

The 70-200mm F4 was first shown as a mock-up at CP+ last year (click here for link). It appears that the version on display this year is fully-working, and will be released to the market soon. There's no information yet on pricing and availability, or even which mounts the lenses will be made for (historically Tokina has produced lenses in Canon and Nikon versions, and most recently the 11-16mm F2.8 in Sony fit too).

Schneider Kreuznach plans lens range for mirrorless and shows 14mm F2.0: Digital Photography Review

Schneider Kreuznach plans lens range for mirrorless and shows 14mm F2.0: Digital Photography Review | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"Schneider Kreuznach has said it will begin making lenses for mirrorless systems, and has shown renderings of a 14mm F2.0 lens for the Micro Four Thirds system. The move will make Schneider one of the few independent lens makers building autofocus lenses for mirrorless systems, following the launches of lenses for Micro Four Thirds and Sony NEX from Sigma and a NEX 18-200mm from Tamron. As part of its annual review, Schneider says it will introduce a range of lenses for mirrorless cameras 'this fall,' which we're expecting to mean around the Photokina show in Cologne, this September."

Nikon announces AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm F3.5-4.5G ED VR affordable full-frame lens

Nikon announces AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm F3.5-4.5G ED VR affordable full-frame lens | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"Nikon has announced the AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm F3.5-4.5G ED VR, a comparatively affordable, stabilized, variable aperture standard zoom lens for full frame cameras. It comes as Nikon celebrates the sale of the 70 millionth Nikkor lens since 1933, and the 30 millionth silent-wave motor lens since the system's introduction in 1996. It's hard not to interpret the announcement as lending weight to the rumors of an affordable full-frame body, since it's hard to imagine large numbers of D800 owners using a lens with a recommended price of $599 as their everyday lens."
